How to choose an implant dentist in San Francisco.
Implants are a craft. Here's what to ask, what to look at, and what "premium" actually means when comparing offices.
What separates a good implant office.
1. 3D CBCT scanning on site (not at an outside imaging center). 2. Guided surgery — using a 3D-printed surgical guide for placement, not freehand. 3. A clear answer to "how many implants have you placed?" — and "what's your failure rate?". 4. The implant brand they use (Straumann, Nobel BioCare, BioHorizons are the established premium brands).
What we do at UNO.
On-site CBCT. Guided surgery for every case. We use Straumann implants. Single-implant cases are typically placed in one 90-minute visit; the final crown goes on 3–4 months later once the bone has integrated. Full-arch cases are planned with a referral to a specialist team we trust.
Questions to ask any office before booking.
What implant brand? Will the implant placer also do the crown? What's the warranty on the implant body? What happens if the implant fails? Who do you refer to if it gets complex? These are the questions that separate offices that do implants well from offices that just do them.
Common questions.
How much does a single implant cost?
Single implant + abutment + crown in SF generally runs $4,500–$6,500 all-in. We'll quote yours after the CBCT.
How long is recovery?
Most patients are back to normal in 2–3 days. Avoid the surgical site when eating for 7–10 days.
What if I don't have enough bone?
Bone grafting or a sinus lift can usually rebuild the site. Sometimes we place the graft and the implant simultaneously; sometimes we stage it.
Considering an implant?
A consult with a CBCT scan tells you exactly what's possible — and what it costs.
