Does insurance cover veneers?

Almost never — and the honest path is to know that going in. Here's where partial coverage occasionally applies, and how UNO patients pay for veneer cases.

Where partial coverage sometimes applies.

If a tooth is fractured, has severe decay, or has lost significant structure, replacing it with a porcelain restoration is functionally a crown — and crowns are usually 50–80% covered. The same porcelain restoration billed cosmetically wouldn't be. The clinical justification matters.

What we do at UNO.

We document the functional reason for every porcelain restoration accurately. Where the case is genuinely cosmetic (healthy teeth, aesthetic improvement only), we tell you so — and quote it as out-of-pocket. No insurance fraud, no wishful coding.

How patients pay.

CareCredit 0% APR up to 24 months. HFD Patient Payment Plans up to 60 months fixed. HSA/FSA for the restorative portion of partially covered cases. We'll work the optimal combination.

Common questions.

What if I have a "cosmetic rider"?

Some employer plans offer one. They typically cap at $500–$1,500 lifetime — useful but not transformative for a full smile case.

Will the insurance pay if a veneer breaks later?

Replacement coverage varies. Most plans cover replacement after 5 years if originally covered.

Can I argue my case?

Sometimes — if there's a clinical reason (fracture, decay, wear), we can submit with documentation. We don't guarantee approval.
