Oral surgery

What holistic extraction actually means.

The phrase "holistic extraction" gets used loosely. Here's what it means in clinical practice — and what UNO does and doesn't do.

What it usually means.

Thorough cleaning of the socket after extraction (not just removing the tooth), preservation of the bone with platelet-rich fibrin or graft material when appropriate, and attention to the surrounding tissue rather than just "get the tooth out." Sometimes ozone irrigation is added. The goal is faster, cleaner healing.

What it doesn't mean.

It does not mean avoiding anesthesia, refusing antibiotics when needed, or relying on alternative therapies in place of standard care. Anything sold as "natural extraction" that skips evidence-based standards is something to ask hard questions about.

What UNO does.

Thorough socket curettage at every extraction. Platelet-rich fibrin or bone graft when the site will receive a future implant. Standard local anesthesia. Antibiotics only when clinically indicated. Aftercare instructions written down so you don't have to remember the post-op talk.

Common questions.

Will you preserve the bone for an implant later?

Yes — if you've expressed interest in an implant, we'll do socket preservation at the time of extraction. It's a small additional cost that saves bone grafting later.

Can extractions be done without anesthesia?

No — that's not safe or kind. Modern local anesthesia is very effective.

What about wisdom teeth?

Simple wisdom teeth we extract in-house. Impacted or high-risk cases we refer to an oral surgeon.

Need a tooth out, but want to think about it carefully?

A consult is the right place to ask every question — we'll walk through the plan with you.
